Sketchy: Future products I have not found the right partners to cook with.
Most factories are holding on to old business models. Minimum orders of 500-1000 pieces, per style, are required to order to do business. As an independently funded project there are 2 main pitfalls this creates.
It forces you to be indebted to selling rather than moving on to the next idea. You are now swimming in piles of product. The thing you nurtured is now a burden. No matter how great a product is, it needs an audience - And this takes time. Rarely will the world need 1000 of your thing(s) in the beginning - You can always make it evergreen later.
2. It’s a giant waste of resources! You’re funding a factory vs building your business. Your money and energy needs to be channeled into developing or evolving. At all cost, we need to protect our ability to be light and agile..
